MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Grade 8
Any person with a good standing in the community.
Person must not be employed by the KZN Department of Health and not be receiving any remuneration from the KZN Department of Health.
Person with legal, financial, health and religious background are highly recommended.
Person should be residing in around the area where the clinic is located.
Person should be of good standing in the community.
FUNCTIONS OF THE CLINIC COMMITTEE
To act as a link between the clinic and community within the catchment area.
To become and remain acquainted with the operations and services of the clinic.
To provide support and practical input into annual plans for the PHC clinics services, projects and other interventions.
Act as advocate for further development of the community based plans and lobby for the implementation by the community.
Convene intersectoral collaboration for complex health issues i.e. elder abuse, teenage pregnancy to ensure community response, using community strengths and decisions for community action. To conduct regular inspections at the clinic.
To raise additional funds over and above the clinic allocated budget, specifying the manner in which the funds will be utilized and ensuring that annual financial reports are submitted to the hospital CEO detailing the manner in which the funds were utilised.
To perform the functions and carry out the duties and responsibilities imposed by the KwaZulu-Natal Health Act no 01 of 2009.
To consider and make recommendations in respect of any complaint presented to the committee.
To liaise with other organisations with a view of assisting patients and staff in areas of special needs.
To make recommendations to hospital management regarding the usage of any fixed or removable property bequeathed in the clinic.
To ensure that recommendations are made to the MEC for Health and Head of Health should there be a matter specifically referred to the Clinic Committee by the MEC for Health of Head of Health.
